Customer Rating: Summary: Very helpful for overnights Comment: I use these overnight in my daughter's fuzzi bunz as an extra stuffer in addition to the microterry inserts that came with the diapers.
I bought this and the baby kicks at the same time. They both preform well. I think that baby kicks might have a slightly higher hemp content, but they're both very absorbent, and these are a little bit cheaper.
I recommend boiling these when you get them. I did, and they absorbed well from their first use. Keep in mind that they will shrink for the first few washes, but they are big enough to do so. They are thinner than the microterry inserts, but absorb plenty of fluid despite their trim profile.
I highly recommend doubling up with hemp inserts if you're having trouble with leaky wet diapers. All of Elsie's damp morning problems were cured when we started double-stuffing with these or the baby kicks.
Customer Rating: Summary: Amazing! Comment: You need to get this insert! My son would not sleep through the night because of wetness. I only use these for night, naps, & outings. His skin is DRY in the morning. I put a homemade insert, this insert, and a prefold in a Kushie's wrap. The prefold is only damp! -And he's an older baby!
I saw the Thirstiesbaby.com site says to wash at least three times before the first use. Don't. I boiled mine for 20-30 minutes, washed in Tide (because it is a harsh soap), and dried them. It will save you all the extra loads. If you use a dryer, you'll need to run two cycles. You can hang them up overnight and use them in the morning. I add a little bit of vinegar and baking soda to the wash to help keep smells away. I've not had an issue with odors, but this is an option since I have heard a few others complain about it. After the first wash, toss them in with all of the other diaper laundry.
One thing you should know, you will need to put another insert/liner between this and your baby. Hemp is a slow absorber, but once it starts sucking it up, it does not stop. You can buy a synthetic fabric insert to do the trick. You do not need it to hold the moisture, you just need it to allow the pee to pass through and stay away from skin. I went the homemade route and sewed some old baby blankets into inserts and didn't have to buy yet another accessory. I also liked how thin it is. It adds less bulk than an extra prefold.
I was very hesitant to buy these, but I couldn't be happier that I did!
Customer Rating: Summary: Great! Comment: I dont have the thirsties covers, but these fit well in my other covers! Overall GREAT PRODUCT! I love that its 50% cotton 50% hemp, it holds up well, fits well, non-bulky.
Customer Rating: Summary: Saving money and the enviroment plus they look fency Comment: Save the environment, easy to use and clean, good material, long lasting
and look pretty in my baby boy.
Customer Rating: Summary: Most absorbent inserts I've found at the best price too Comment: I use FuzziBunz diapers, and these inserts are wonderful. They are so soft and absorbent. My baby never has a diaper leak with these. The only downside is that they take a long time to dry. Everything else in my dryer is dry and these still take an extra 10 minutes... however, this is expected because of how absorbent they are. They are very well priced. Most inserts of this quality cost about $5 per insert.
